Brayan Josué Cortés Fernández (born on March 11, 1995) is a talented Chilean footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper. Currently, he plays for the Primera División club Colo-Colo. He also plays for the Chile national team.

Club Career

Brayan Cortés started playing football when he was very young. He became a goalkeeper at just five years old.

Playing for Deportes Iquique

Brayan was born in Iquique, Chile. When he was fourteen, he joined the youth team of his hometown club, Deportes Iquique.

In 2013, he moved up to the main adult team. His first professional game was on March 30, 2014. He played against Ñublense, where his team lost 3–0.

After that season, Brayan became the first-choice goalkeeper for a while. This happened because the main keeper, Rodrigo Naranjo, was injured. Brayan played well in several matches. He even had strong performances against big teams like Colo-Colo and Universidad de Chile. He played eight games during the 2014–15 season.

Playing for Colo-Colo

In 2018, Brayan Cortés joined Colo-Colo, one of Chile's biggest football clubs. He quickly became a key player for them. With Colo-Colo, he has won several important trophies. These include the Copa Chile twice and the Supercopa de Chile twice. He has played over 150 games for the club.

International Career

Brayan Cortés has represented Chile at different levels of football.

Playing for Chile's Youth Teams

Brayan played for the Chile U20 squad in 2013. This team qualified for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He played one game in the tournament. It was a 3–2 win against Paraguay. He was even named the best player of that match!

He also played for the Chile U23 team. In 2022, he helped them win a game against Peru U23. This was part of their training for the 2023 Pan American Games. At the 2023 Pan American Games, Brayan and his team won a silver medal. He was one of the older players allowed to join the U23 team for this event.

Playing for the Senior National Team

Brayan Cortés made his debut for the senior Chile national team in 2018. Since then, he has played in many international matches. He has represented his country in major tournaments like the 2019 Copa América and the 2024 Copa América. He continues to be an important part of Chile's national team.
