Breña Baja is a lovely place on the eastern side of La Palma. La Palma is one of the beautiful Canary Islands in Spain. It's a "municipality," which is like a local government area. The main office, called the ayuntamiento, is in a town called San José. It sits about 300 meters (almost 1,000 feet) above sea level.
For a long time, this whole area was just known as Breña. But in the 17th century, it was split into two parts: Breña Alta and Breña Baja. Breña Baja means "Lower Breña" in Spanish.
You'll find Los Cancajos, which is the second biggest holiday resort on La Palma, right on the coast of Breña Baja. A part of La Palma Airport is also located within this municipality.
