History of Bremen
The Bremen community started in 1860. It was first called Empire.
However, there was another place named Empire in Walker County. To avoid confusion, the name was changed in 1879. James Macentepe, who was the first postmaster of the town, chose the new name. He picked "Bremen" to honor the city of Bremen, Germany.
