Brett Dier was born in London, Ontario, Canada. He went to London South Collegiate Institute, where he was a star in the school's talent show. He grew up with an older sister and a younger brother.

Brett learned how to do improv comedy, which is making up scenes on the spot. He also earned a first-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a Korean martial art.
