Brett Morris (born August 23, 1986) is a retired Australian professional rugby league player. He was known for his incredible speed and skill, playing mostly on the wing and sometimes as a fullback. He played for top teams like the St. George Illawarra Dragons, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League (NRL).
Morris also represented his country, playing for the Australian Kangaroos. He played for New South Wales in the famous State of Origin series. He won two NRL championships, one with the Dragons in 2010 and another with the Roosters in 2019.
With 176 tries, Brett Morris is one of the top try-scorers in the history of the sport.

Early Life and Family
Brett Morris was born in Kogarah, New South Wales, but grew up in the town of Kiama, New South Wales. He and his twin brother, Josh, started playing junior rugby league for the Kiama Knights.
Rugby league runs in the Morris family. His father, Steve Morris, was also a famous rugby league player for the St. George Dragons and Australia. Brett's twin brother Josh also had a successful career in the NRL, and they even played together at the Sydney Roosters.
Playing Career
St. George Illawarra Dragons (2006–2014)
In 2006, Brett made his NRL debut for the St. George Illawarra Dragons. He quickly showed his talent, scoring 12 tries in his first season. In 2009, he had an amazing year, scoring 25 tries and winning the Dally M award for the league's top try-scorer.
His success led to him being chosen for the Australian team for the 2009 Four Nations tournament. He was the top try-scorer of the competition, helping Australia win the final against England.
Winning the Premiership
In 2010, Morris was a key player for the Dragons. He scored 20 tries that season and helped the team win the 2010 NRL Grand Final against the Sydney Roosters. This was a huge moment for the club and its fans. He also played for New South Wales in the State of Origin series for the first time.
Over the next few years, Morris continued to be a star player. He played for Australia in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, where he scored eight tries. This included two tries in the final, which Australia won against New Zealand.
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (2015–2018)
In 2015, Brett joined his brother Josh at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. He made his debut for the club at fullback and scored a try in his first game. Despite some injuries, he continued to be a strong player for the team.
In 2017, he played his 200th NRL game. That same year, he announced his retirement from representative football, which includes playing for New South Wales and Australia. He said he was proud to have represented his state and country.
Sydney Roosters (2019–2021)
Morris joined the Sydney Roosters in 2019 and had an immediate impact. He scored a hat-trick (three tries in one game) in his first match for the club. Later that year, he helped the Roosters win the 2019 NRL Grand Final against the Canberra Raiders. This was his second premiership win.
In 2020, his brother Josh joined him at the Roosters, and the twins played together again. Brett continued his amazing try-scoring form. In the first two games of the 2021 season, he scored a hat-trick in each match, a first in NRL history.
Retirement
Sadly, in May 2021, Morris suffered a serious knee injury during a game. A month later, on June 7, 2021, he announced his retirement from rugby league. His incredible career came to an end, but he left a legacy as one of the greatest wingers of all time.
Life After Playing
After retiring as a player, Brett Morris didn't leave the sport he loves. He became an assistant coach for the Sydney Roosters in 2022. In 2024, he was named the head coach for the Roosters' NSW Cup team, where he helps develop the next generation of players.
