Brewer's rockcress is a perennial plant. This means it lives for more than two years. It grows from a strong, woody base called a caudex. From this base, it sends up hairy stems that can reach about 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) tall.

Around the base of the plant, there's a cluster of oval-shaped leaves. These leaves can be up to 3 centimeters (about 1.2 inches) long. They are covered in special hairs that look like they are forked, or split. A few other leaves grow higher up on the stem, and their bases wrap around it.

The flowers of Brewer's rockcress are quite pretty. They have dark purple sepals, which are like small leaves that protect the flower bud. The petals are a lighter purple color. After the flowers bloom, the plant produces its fruit. This fruit is a long, thin, purple pod called a silique. These pods can grow up to 6.5 centimeters (about 2.5 inches) long.
