Brian Hooks' Acting Journey
Brian Hooks started his acting career as the main character in the movie Phat Beach in 1996. This film was written and directed by Doug Ellin. The success of Phat Beach led to more movie roles for Brian. These included High School High (1996), Bulworth (1998), and Beloved (1998). Around the same time, he also appeared as a guest star in many TV shows. Some of these shows were Cracker, NYPD Blue, Moesha, ER, and The Parkers.
In 2000, Hooks was the main character in the comedy movie 3 Strikes. After that, he continued to star in many movies made for home viewing. He also helped produce these films. Some of these movies include Nothin’ 2 Lose (2000), The Luau (2001), The Chatroom (2002), and Malibooty (2003).
Becoming a Producer and Director
In the years that followed, Brian started to focus more on making movies behind the scenes. He developed and produced a low-budget film called Q: The Movie. This movie made a huge profit, earning 50 times more than it cost to make! This experience showed Brian how exciting and profitable it could be to create and develop movies. Because of this success, and with support from big movie companies like MGM, Brian began to produce independent films. He worked on these movies in between his acting roles.
Brian made many movies that went straight to DVD. This led to some entertainment news outlets calling him “The King of DVD.” In 2007, he helped produce, direct, and write the horror film Dead Tone. He also starred in it. Later, he produced the movie I Do… I Did (2009). Brian Hooks was also a co-host for a relationship show called According To Him & Her, which aired on Centric.
In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Brian started his own production company. It is called Left of Bang Entertainment. This company will produce its own movies. It will also offer free educational programs and chances for young people in cities to learn from experienced people in the film industry.
