Brian Anthony Ransom, born on July 9, 1960, is a former American football player. He played as a quarterback. Ransom was part of the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also spent time with the Houston Oilers in the National Football League (NFL).
Brian Ransom's Early Life and College Football
Brian Anthony Ransom was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 9, 1960. He went to North High School in Nashville, Tennessee. He finished high school in 1979. In 2011, he was honored in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Sports Hall of Fame.
Ransom played college football for the Tennessee State Tigers. He was a key player from 1979 to 1982. In 1981, he was named an All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college players in the country.
Brian Ransom's Professional Football Journey
After college, Brian Ransom was not chosen in the 1983 NFL draft. However, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys on April 28, 1983. He was released from the team later that year in August.
Ransom then joined the Houston Oilers on September 29, 1983. He stayed with the Oilers until August 1985. He did not play in any regular season games for the Oilers during his time there.
In 1986, Ransom played for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played in all 18 games for the team. He completed 247 of his 494 passes for 3,204 yards. He also threw nine touchdowns. Ransom ran the ball 37 times for 141 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. The Alouettes finished the season with a record of 4 wins and 14 losses.
