Brian Stacy Miller (born January 24, 1967) is a very important person in the American legal system. He is a United States district judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. This means he helps make big decisions in court cases for a part of Arkansas.

His Early Life and School

Brian Stacy Miller was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in 1967. He grew up in a town called Helena, Arkansas. After finishing high school in 1985, he decided to join the military.

Serving in the Military

In June 1985, Brian Miller joined the United States Navy. He worked as a Boatswain's Mate on a ship called the USS New Jersey until 1989. He also served in the United States Navy Reserve for a few years.

After his time in the Navy, he went to college. He earned a degree from Phillips County Community College in 1991. Then, he got another degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 1992. Finally, he went to Vanderbilt Law School and became a lawyer in 1995.

Starting His Law Career

After law school, Brian Miller started working at a law firm in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1998, he opened his own law firm in Helena, Arkansas.

He also became the city attorney for his hometown of Helena. This means he was the main lawyer for the city government. He held this job from 1999 to 2006. He also worked as a city attorney for other towns and as a city judge for Holly Grove, Arkansas. From 2000 to 2006, he was a deputy prosecuting attorney for Phillips County.

Becoming a Judge

In 2007, Brian Miller was chosen to be a judge for the Arkansas Court of Appeals. This court reviews decisions made by lower courts. He served there for about a year.

Serving as a Federal Judge

In 2007, President George W. Bush nominated Brian Miller to become a federal judge. The United States Senate approved his nomination in April 2008. He officially became a judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas on April 17, 2008.

From July 2012 to July 2019, Judge Miller served as the Chief Judge of this court. This is a special role where he helped manage the court's work. He continues to serve as a federal judge today.
