Brickyard Cove Pond is a small lake located in the Brickyard Cove area of Richmond, California. It was created when people dug out rocks from a nearby hill called Nicholl's Knob. This process is called quarrying. The pond gets its water from underground springs known as Brickyard Springs.
History of Brickyard Cove Pond
Before the early 1900s, Brickyard Cove Pond was a popular spot for swimming. Local boys often used the lake for a refreshing dip. However, this changed when nearby cattle ranchers started putting animal waste into the pond. This made the water unsafe for swimming, and people stopped using it for recreation.
