History of Bridgeport
Bridgeport has a simple but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1879. This office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1976, when it closed down.
Long ago, two different railroad lines ran through Bridgeport. These railroads were important for travel and moving goods. However, over time, they were no longer used and were eventually abandoned.

Bridgeport is located in a pretty area of Kansas. The Smoky Hill River flows right through the community. This river is a natural feature of the landscape.
