Bridget Jane Fonda (born January 27, 1964) is an American former actress. She comes from a famous family of actors. Her grandfather was Henry Fonda, her father was Peter Fonda, and her aunt is Jane Fonda.
Bridget Fonda is well-known for her roles in many movies. Some of her popular films include The Godfather Part III (1990), Single White Female (1992), Point of No Return (1993), and Jackie Brown (1997). She also appeared in Lake Placid (1999) and Kiss of the Dragon (2001). She was nominated for several awards for her acting. Bridget Fonda stopped acting in 2002. Bridget Fonda was born on January 27, 1964, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a family deeply involved in acting. Her grandfather was the famous actor Henry Fonda. Her father, Peter Fonda, and her aunt, Jane Fonda, are also well-known actors. Her mother, Susan Jane Brewer, is an artist.
Bridget's parents divorced in 1974. The next year, her father married Portia Rebecca Crockett. Bridget and her brother Justin were raised by their father and stepmother. They lived in Los Angeles and also in Paradise Valley, Montana.
Acting Career
Bridget Fonda first got interested in acting through school plays. She studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. This was part of New York University's acting program. She graduated from NYU in 1986.
Bridget made her first movie appearance when she was very young. At age five, she was in the film Easy Rider (1969). In this movie, she played a child in a hippie community. Her father, Peter Fonda, starred in that film.
Her first bigger role was in the 1988 film Scandal. She also appeared in You Can't Hurry Love and Shag that same year.
A major moment in her career came with The Godfather Part III in 1990. After this, she gained more experience in theater. She then got lead roles in movies like Single White Female and Singles, both released in 1992.
In 1993, Bridget Fonda starred in Point of No Return. This was an American version of a French film called Nikita. Critics praised her strong and confident acting in the movie. Later, in 1997, director Quentin Tarantino offered her a role in his film Jackie Brown. She also starred in the monster movie Lake Placid in 1999.
Bridget Fonda's last film role was in The Whole Shebang in 2001. Her very last acting job was in the TV movie Snow Queen in 2002. She has not acted in any films or TV shows since then.
Personal Life
Bridget Fonda dated actor Eric Stoltz for several years in the 1990s. Their relationship ended in 1998.
In February 2003, she was in a car accident. She suffered a serious injury to her back. The next month, she became engaged to film composer Danny Elfman. He was also the lead singer of the band Oingo Boingo. They got married in November 2003. In 2005, Bridget and Danny had a son together.
After getting married and having her son, Bridget Fonda decided to stop acting. She chose to focus on her family life instead.
