Bridgman's View Tower facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Bridgman's View Tower was a very tall building planned for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was going to be a 66-story skyscraper in the Northern Liberties area. This building was designed to be used for many different things, which is why it's called "mixed-use."

If it had been built, Bridgman's View Tower would have been 749 feet (228 meters) tall. That would have made it one of the five tallest buildings in Philadelphia!

What Was Planned for Bridgman's View Tower?

The company Agoos/Lovera, based in Philadelphia, designed this huge building. It was planned to be built close to the city's Delaware River waterfront.

What Would Be Inside?

The tower was designed to have many different parts:

  • Nearly 800 fancy apartments called condominium units.
  • A hotel with 200 to 300 rooms. This type of hotel is often smaller and more unique.
  • A shopping area inside the building.

The plans also included "green" features. These are things that help the environment. For example, there was going to be a garden on the roof!

Where Would It Be Built?

Bridgman's View Tower was planned for the Northern Liberties neighborhood. This area is a bit away from the main group of skyscrapers in Center City. However, Northern Liberties has become a popular spot for new buildings. Many large projects have been planned there recently.

What Happened to the Project?

The building was originally supposed to be finished by 2010. But the project faced some challenges. The land where it was going to be built was put up for sale. This made the future of Bridgman's View Tower uncertain.
