The bridled frog is also known as the bridle frog or tawny rocket frog. Its scientific name is Litoria nigrofrenata. This cool frog lives in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
You can find it in the Cape York Peninsula in Australia. It also lives on islands in the Torres Strait. And it's found in northern Queensland and the Northern Territory.

What the Bridled Frog Looks Like
This frog is usually about 4.5 centimeters (about 1.8 inches) long. That's about the length of your thumb!
Its skin can be light tan or a dark reddish-brown color. But what really makes it stand out are its clear black stripes. These stripes can be long or short. They look a bit like a bridle, which is why it's called the bridled frog!
Where the Bridled Frog Lives
The bridled frog likes to live in forests. It also enjoys swamps. You can often find it near dams and small streams. These places provide the perfect wet and green home for it.
Life Cycle of the Bridled Frog
When it's time to lay eggs, the female bridled frog is very busy. She can lay around 450 eggs at one time! She lays these eggs in pools of water or in streams. This helps the young tadpoles have a safe place to grow.
