Bromölla is a town in Sweden. It's located in Skåne County. Bromölla is also the main town, or "seat," of Bromölla Municipality. In 2010, about 7,595 people lived there.

Bromölla's History

Bromölla started as a very small place. It had only a few houses about 100 years ago. The town began to grow because of a new limestone quarry. A quarry is a place where rocks like limestone are dug out of the ground.

How Industries Grew

The limestone quarry led to new factories. These factories made things from ceramics. Ceramics are materials like pottery or tiles, made from clay and heated.

The area around Bromölla was once part of a large estate called Årup. It was also connected to the Ivetofta church parish.

The Railroad Arrives

A big change happened in 1886. A railroad line was built between Kristianstad and Sölvesborg. Bromölla got its own train station. This made it easier to transport goods and people.

Right after the railroad opened, the first ceramics factory started. This factory was called Ifö. It opened in 1887 and helped Bromölla grow even more.
