Bronson is a city located in Branch County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2020, about 2,307 people lived there. Bronson became a city in 1934. It is mostly surrounded by Bronson Township, but the city and township are managed separately.

Bronson's Early History
Bronson started as a settlement in 1828. A post office was set up in 1830. It was first called Bronson's Prairie. Jabez B. Bronson was the first postmaster.
How Bronson Got Its Name
When the village first began, it was named York. But in 1837, the Michigan government changed its name to Bronson. The village officially became a city in 1934.
City Government Today
In 1985, Bronson created a new way to run its city. This system is called the Council-Manager government. It means that elected officials (the council) make decisions. A city manager then carries out those decisions. Bronson still uses this system today.

Bronson is a small city. According to the United States Census Bureau, it covers about 1.37 square miles (3.55 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
