His Music Journey

Brooks Headley started his music career in the early 1990s. He played drums in a hardcore band called Fifth Column in the Baltimore area. Hardcore is a fast and energetic type of punk rock music.

Later, from 1992 to 1994, he joined the emo band Universal Order of Armageddon. Emo music often has emotional lyrics. In 1993, he also played drums for the political hardcore band Born Against. He joined this band with his Universal Order of Armageddon bandmate, Tonie Joy.

After moving to Richmond, Virginia, in 1993, Headley helped start the band (Young) Pioneers. He played with them for several years. During the rest of the 1990s, he also played briefly with Men's Recovery Project and The Great Unraveling. He then spent more time with the bands Skull Kontrol and Wrangler Brutes.

More recently, Headley formed a band called Oldest with guitarist Mick Barr. He also continues to be active with Universal Order of Armageddon. This band started performing again in 2010.

Life Outside Music

In 1999, Brooks Headley earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society there. This society recognizes students who achieve high academic success.

Headley also became a very successful chef. He was the executive pastry chef at Del Posto. This was a highly-rated restaurant in New York City. In May 2013, he won a major award for his work there. The James Beard Foundation named him "Outstanding Pastry Chef." This is a very important award in the food world.

After his success at Del Posto, Headley decided to open his own restaurant. He left Del Posto to create Superiority Burger. This restaurant serves vegetarian burgers. In 2019, he was nominated for another James Beard Foundation Award. This time, it was for "Best Chef: New York City" for Superiority Burger.
