Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Brottby Concert (Swedish: Brottbykonserten) was a rock concert that featured bands with extreme views. It took place at the Yesterday dancing venue in Brottby, Sweden on Saturday evening, 3 January 1998.

Bands and audience members came from different countries to attend the concert. The Swedish police intervened during the event. About 250 people were taken into custody. Some participants from other countries, like the USA, later said they didn't know that making a nazi salute (a gesture linked to extreme groups) was considered promoting hatred in Sweden. The concert and the events that followed received a lot of attention from Swedish newspapers.
