Broșteni is a town in Suceava County, located in the northeastern part of Romania. It is part of the historical region known as Western Moldavia. Broșteni was officially declared a town in 2004. Today, it is home to about 5,179 people, based on the 2021 census. The town also includes several smaller areas. Some of these are now neighborhoods, while others are associated villages.

What is Broșteni's History?

Broșteni is an old community that used to be a mining town. It sits right by the Bistrița River. The town is surrounded by the beautiful Bistrița Mountains and the Stânișoara Mountains. Broșteni covers a very large area of about 424.40 square kilometers (163.86 sq mi). This makes it the biggest area managed by a single place in Suceava County! The main way to get to Broșteni is by a national road. This road connects Vatra Dornei and Piatra Neamț. Broșteni does not have a train station.
