The Story of Bruce
Bruce was first started in 1881 and was called Lie. Two years later, in 1883, its name was changed to Bruce.
No one is completely sure why it was named Bruce. Some people think it was named after the son of a railroad official. Others believe it was named for Blanche K. Bruce. He was an important African-American leader and a friend of a U.S. Senator.

Bruce is found along the Big Sioux River.

Honey Days Festival
Every year, during the last week of July, Bruce celebrates its special town holiday called Honey Days.
This festival is named after Adee Honey Farms, a big company that started and is based in Bruce. Adee Honey Farms is known for being the largest honey producer in the world. It's also a major employer in this small town.
The Honey Days festival has lots of fun activities for everyone. These include a street dance, bingo games, and a barbecue meal. There's also a pancake breakfast and an outdoor church service. People can join in sports tournaments like softball, horseshoes, volleyball, and beanbags. A large parade also goes down the main street during the festival.
