Bruno Vale's Football Journey

Bruno Vale was born in Mafamude, a town in Portugal. He started playing football very young at FC Porto, one of Portugal's biggest clubs. He was part of their youth teams from 1997 to 2001.

Early Career and National Team Call-Up

Even though he was still quite young and not a regular player for FC Porto's main team, Bruno Vale got a big surprise! In August 2003, he was chosen to play for the Portugal national football team. He played for 22 minutes as a substitute (a player who comes into the game to replace another) in a friendly match against Kazakhstan, which Portugal won 1-0.

The next year, in 2004, he represented Portugal at the Summer Olympic Games. He was the backup goalkeeper for the team.

Loan Spells and Injuries

After his time at Porto, Bruno Vale spent several seasons playing for other teams on loan. This means he temporarily played for another club to get more experience.

  • In the 2005–06 season, he played for C.F. Estrela da Amadora.
  • He was even selected for the 2006 FIFA World Cup squad! However, he got a foot injury during a game against Germany in the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Because of this injury, he couldn't play in the World Cup.
  • He then went on loan to U.D. Leiria in 2006–07.
  • The next season, 2007–08, he played for Varzim S.C. in a lower division.
  • In 2008–09, he was loaned to Vitória F.C.
  • His last loan spell was in 2009–10 with C.F. Os Belenenses. He became a starter for a while due to another player's injury.

Moving to Cyprus

In 2010, Bruno Vale left FC Porto for good. He joined U.D. Oliveirense, another Portuguese team. He played there for two years.

Then, in June 2012, when he was 29 years old, Bruno Vale moved to a new country to play football for the first time! He signed a two-year contract with Apollon Limassol FC in Cyprus. He stayed with Apollon Limassol for seven years, playing many games and becoming a very important player for the club.

Retirement from Football

After his successful time in Cyprus, Bruno Vale returned to Portugal in June 2019 and rejoined U.D. Oliveirense for one more season. On June 4, 2020, he announced that he was retiring from professional football.
