Recent Work (2016–2017)
Bryan McCormack worked on a project called Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow for the Venice Biennale in 2017. This artwork showed the European refugee situation. It aimed to give a voice to people who often don't have one. Hundreds of thousands of people from many countries, often children, participated.
Each refugee created three drawings:
- One drawing of their life before (Yesterday).
- One drawing of their current life (Today).
- One drawing of their hoped-for future (Tomorrow).
These drawings formed the basis of the project, which was both an art installation and a social media campaign. It mapped out the journey of refugees from Greek islands to centers in the UK. Many refugees in camps and shelters across Europe contributed their drawings. Each drawing is important and represents a voice.
