Buchrain is a town, also called a municipality, located in the Lucerne area of Switzerland. It is part of the Lucerne canton, which is like a state or region. The town is found in the Lucerne district.

History of Buchrain
Buchrain was first written about in the year 1257. Back then, its name was Buochren.
Geography and Landscape
Buchrain covers an area of about 4.8 square kilometers (1.9 square miles). A large part of this land, almost half (49.5%), is used for farming. About 17.1% of the area is covered by forests.
Around 27.3% of Buchrain's land has buildings or roads. The remaining 6.1% is made up of natural features like rivers. In 1997, about 17.15% of the land was forest. Most farm land (43.72%) is used for crops or pastures. A smaller part (5.86%) grows fruits or grapes.
For settled areas, 10.04% has buildings. Industrial areas take up 3.77%. Parks and green spaces cover 2.72%. Roads and other transport areas make up 9.41%. Rivers and other flowing water account for 4.81% of the non-productive land.
The town sits on high ground called the Hundsrüggen. This area is located between the Reuss and Ron rivers. Buchrain includes the main linear village of Buchrain. It also has a small hamlet called Leisibach. There is also an industrial area known as Perlen.
