Buckeye Station is a historic house built in 1797. It was once home to General Nathaniel Massie. He was an important surveyor and early settler in Ohio. The house is located near Manchester, Ohio. It overlooks the Ohio River.

Discovering Buckeye Station
Buckeye Station was built in 1797. General Nathaniel Massie constructed this house. He was a key figure in Ohio's early history. Massie lived there for a short time. Later, he leased it to John Moore. Eventually, he sold it to his brother-in-law, Charles Willing Byrd.
Who Was General Nathaniel Massie?
Nathaniel Massie was a famous surveyor. He helped map out new lands in Ohio. He also founded several towns. These included nearby Manchester, Ohio. Massie also founded Chillicothe. Chillicothe was Ohio's first capital city.
The Original Buckeye Station Building
The very first building on this land was a log cabin. It was built around 1791. People called it Buckeye Station. This was because it was made from buckeye timber. The cabin was close to Massie Station. Massie Station was a village founded by Nathaniel Massie. It later became the town of Manchester. The log cabin was replaced in 1797. The new building was the L-shaped house we see today. It has one and a half stories.
Buckeye Station Today
Today, Buckeye Station is a historic ruin. It stands in a patch of woods. A cell phone tower is nearby. You can also see a large farm field. A special historical marker is located on Highway 52. This marker tells visitors about the site.
