The Buffalo River is a short, 4.5-mile (about 7.2 kilometers) long river in Georgia. It is a "tidal river," which means its water level changes with the ocean's tides. This river is located northwest of Brunswick, Georgia.

It is part of a larger system of waterways called the Brunswick River network. These are all tidal channels found along the Atlantic coast of Georgia.

About the Buffalo River

The Buffalo River is not very long, but it plays a role in the local environment. It helps connect different parts of the coastal area. The river's waters are influenced by the ocean's tides. This creates a unique habitat for plants and animals.

Where Does It Flow?

The Buffalo River starts where two smaller streams meet. This meeting point is called a "confluence." The Little Buffalo Creek and Buffalo Creek join together southeast of Anguilla. You can find this spot at coordinates 31°14′49″N 81°35′22″W.

From there, the river flows through a wet, swampy area. This area is west of Oak Grove Island. The Buffalo River then continues its journey until it meets the Turtle River. This is where the Buffalo River ends, at coordinates 31°12′55″N 81°34′41″W.
