Bumpus Cove (also known as Bumpass Cove) is a small place in Tennessee, United States. It's not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and people living together without a formal local government.
Bumpus Cove is found in two different counties: Unicoi County and Washington County. It sits near Bumpus Cove Creek and Bumpus Cove Road. You can find it about 4 miles (6.4 km) west of a town called Erwin.
What is a Cove?
Bumpus Cove gets its name because it's located in a special type of valley. This valley is called a "cove" in the Appalachian Mountains. A cove is like a small, sheltered valley or basin. It's often surrounded by mountains or hills.
Where is Bumpus Cove Located?
This community is nestled between two mountains. To the west, you'll find Embreeville Mountain. To the east, there's Rich Mountain. These mountains help create the unique "cove" shape of the area.
