Burcy is a small, former commune (like a small town or village) located in northwestern France. It was part of the Calvados department, which is a smaller area within the larger Normandy region.
On January 1, 2016, Burcy joined with other nearby communes to form a new, larger commune called Valdallière. This means Burcy is now a part of Valdallière, but it still has its own history and identity.
About Burcy's Population
Over the years, the number of people living in Burcy has changed. In the early 1800s, about 600 people lived there. The population grew a bit in the mid-1800s, reaching around 650 residents.
However, like many small rural areas, Burcy's population slowly decreased over time. By the early 1900s, it was around 400 people. In recent years, the number of residents has stayed fairly steady, with about 350 to 400 people calling Burcy home before it merged into Valdallière.
