Burn Hugh Gorman (born September 1, 1974) is an actor and musician. He was born in America but is also English. He is well-known for his many roles on television and in films.
On TV, he played Owen Harper in the BBC series Torchwood (2006–2008). He was also Karl Tanner in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2013–14). Other notable TV roles include Major Edmund Hewlett in Turn: Washington's Spies (2014–2017) and Adolphus Murtry in The Expanse (2019).
In movies, Burn Gorman has appeared in big films like The Dark Knight Rises (2012) as Phillip Stryver. He played Hermann Gottlieb in Pacific Rim (2013) and its sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018). He was also Commander Hoff in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Father Damien in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024).

Burn Hugh Gorman was born on September 1, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. His parents were English. His father was a professor at UCLA. Burn has three older sisters.
When he was 7 years old, his family moved back to England. They settled in London. Later, he studied acting at the Manchester School of Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Besides acting, Gorman is also a talented beatboxer. He even won the Radio 1Xtra's Human Beatbox Champion title in 2003.
Acting Career
Burn Gorman started his TV career in 1998. One of his first roles was in the show Coronation Street. In 2005, he played William Guppy in the BBC show Bleak House.
On Television
He became very famous for playing Owen Harper in the BBC science fiction series Torchwood. He was a main character for the first two seasons. His character left the show in the second season's final episode.
Burn Gorman also appeared in other BBC shows like Lark Rise to Candleford and Bonekickers. He played Jed in the soap opera EastEnders in 2007.
He took on the role of Hindley Earnshaw in the ITV show Wuthering Heights. In 2014, he played Adam in ABC's Forever. He was also Karl Tanner in Game of Thrones and Major Hewlett in Turn.

Burn Gorman has been in many movies. Some of his film roles include Layer Cake and Fred Claus. He played Phillip Stryver in the big superhero movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Personal Life
Burn Gorman married Sarah Beard, a schoolteacher, on July 17, 2004. They have three children together: two girls and one boy. Their first child, Max, was born in Cardiff while Burn was filming the first season of Torchwood. Burn and Sarah later separated and divorced in 2017.
