Busby is a small community called a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It's part of Westlock County. You can find Busby on Highway 651. It's about 52 kilometers (32 miles) northwest of Edmonton. It is also 16 kilometers (10 miles) west of Highway 2.
A Look Back: Busby's History
Busby was first settled by people from the United States. When a post office opened here in 1903, the community was called Independence.
In 1915, a railway line arrived. It was the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway. Because of the railway, the hamlet's name was changed to Busby.
