Bush's Pasture Park is a large public park and beautiful garden. It is located in Salem, Oregon, in the United States. The park covers about 90 acres.
Inside the park, you will find the historic Asahel Bush House. This house became a special museum in 1974. It is now called the Bush House Museum.
Bush House Museum
The Bush House is a beautiful old home. It was built between 1877 and 1878. A man named Asahel Bush had it built. He started a newspaper called the Oregon Statesman. He also started a bank.
The house has a special style called Italianate Victorian. In 1882, Mr. Bush added a greenhouse for his daughters. This greenhouse is still there today. It might have been the first one west of the Mississippi River! It is now filled with old-fashioned plants.
The City of Salem owns the house. It has been open to the public since 1953. The Salem Art Association now runs it as the Bush House Museum. The museum shows furniture and wallpapers from the Victorian time. You can take guided tours from Wednesday to Sunday. There is a small fee to enter.
Bush Barn Art Center
The park also has an old barn. This barn used to hold farm equipment. Now, it is the Bush Barn Art Center. The Salem Art Association also runs this center.
The Art Center has two galleries for modern art. The A.N. Bush Gallery shows art from artists all over. The smaller Focus Gallery features local artists. There is also a crafts gallery. Here, you can buy handmade items. It is free to visit the Art Center.
The Art Association also puts on a big event. It is called the Salem Art Fair and Festival. This event happens in the park every year. It takes place on the third weekend of July.
