Macadamia integrifolia is a type of tree known for its delicious nuts! It's often called the smooth-shelled macadamia or Queensland nut. This tree grows to be about 15 meters (almost 50 feet) tall. It naturally lives in the warm, wet rainforests of southeastern Queensland and northern New South Wales in Australia.

About the Macadamia Tree

The Macadamia integrifolia tree has shiny, green leaves that are long and oval-shaped. They can be up to 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) long and 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) wide. The edges of the leaves are a bit wavy.

Flowers and Fruits

This tree produces pretty white or pink flowers. After the flowers, the tree grows round, woody fruits. Inside these fruits are the yummy macadamia nuts! Each nut is about 2 to 3.5 centimeters (about 1 to 1.5 inches) across.

Where it Grows

While it's not often grown just for its looks, the macadamia tree is very important for its nuts. It grows best in places with warm weather, like hardiness zones 10 and 11. These are areas that don't get too cold.

The tree has also been planted in other countries. For example, it grows well in parts of Mexico, especially in the states of Michoacán and Jalisco.
