Butler Beach is a special community located in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). In 2020, about 4,978 people lived there. This number was a little higher than the 4,951 people counted in 2010. Butler Beach is part of the larger Jacksonville area.

This place has a very important history. It was started by a man named Frank B. Butler. He was a successful businessman who owned a grocery store. Mr. Butler also worked to make things better for his community. He bought land near the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River. This land became a resort for African Americans. At that time, many beaches were segregated, meaning different races were not allowed to use the same places. Butler Beach was the only beach open to African Americans between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach.
