Bàsquet Mallorca was a professional basketball team from Inca, a town in the Balearic Islands, Spain. This team played in different Spanish basketball leagues for a few years. It was formed in 2008 and stopped playing in 2013.

History of the Team

Bàsquet Mallorca started in 2008. It was created by joining two other basketball teams from the Balearic Islands:

  • Club Bàsquet Inca (which used to play in the LEB Oro league)
  • Club Bàsquet Muro (which used to play in the LEB Plata league)

The team began playing in the LEB Oro league. However, in 2010, they had to move down to the LEB Plata league. This happened because they did not send in all their paperwork on time.

In the 2010–11 season, Bàsquet Mallorca played very well. They won the final playoffs against BC Andorra and earned their way back into the LEB Oro league. In that exciting final game, Mallorca won by just one point, 67–66.

In 2012, the club decided not to play in any competitions. They even thought about closing down completely. But in September 2012, the Spanish Basketball Federation invited them to join the Liga EBA league instead.

At the end of that season, Bàsquet Mallorca was officially closed. But new basketball clubs started in Inca to take its place. The old Bàsquet Inca team was restarted. Also, the youth players from Bàsquet Mallorca formed a new club called Bàsquet Ciutat d'Inca.

Team Names Over the Years

Bàsquet Mallorca had different names during its time. This was because of companies that sponsored the team. Here are the names they used:

  • Iberostar Mallorca Bàsquet: This name was used in 2011, only during the LEB Plata promotion playoffs.
  • Logitravel Básquet Mallorca: This was their name from 2011 to 2012.
