History of CAE Phoenix
How the Pilot School Started
The school began in 1991. At first, it was called the Belgian Aviation School. Later, it became the Sabena Air Training Center. This was part of another school called Sabena Flight Academy.
Why Phoenix Was Chosen
In 1991, the school decided to do its flight training in Phoenix. This was a smart choice because the weather in Arizona is usually sunny. This means students can fly airplanes all year long. Phoenix also has a busy sky, which helps students learn to fly in different situations.
CAE Takes Over
In 2008, the Phoenix school joined a bigger company. CAE bought the school. Since then, it has been known as CAE Phoenix.

What is a Fleet?
A "fleet" is a group of vehicles that belong to one company. At CAE Phoenix, their fleet is made up of 81 airplanes. These are the planes students use to learn how to fly.
Modern Cockpits
Most of the airplanes at CAE Phoenix have modern technology. They use something called Garmin G1000s. These are advanced digital screens in the cockpit. They show pilots important information like maps and flight details. Only a few older planes do not have this system.

Pilot Training Programs
What Students Learn
In 2011, about 400 pilots were trained at CAE Phoenix each year. The school offers different types of courses. Some courses follow European rules (EASA). Other courses follow American rules (FAA).
Training for Airlines
Many students come from other pilot schools, like those in Oxford or Brussels. They also train future pilots for big airlines. These include British Airways, Air Algérie, Emirates, and EasyJet.
American Pilot Licenses
Students in the American program learn how to get different pilot licenses. These include the Private pilot, Commercial pilot, and flight instructor licenses. They also learn how to fly in different weather conditions using special instruments.
Special Programs
CAE Phoenix also has a special program called the Multi Crew Pilots License (MPL). This program helps pilots learn to work as a team in a cockpit. Japan Airlines uses this program for its new pilots.
In February 2017, CAE was named the best Aviation Training Center in Europe. This shows how good their training programs are.
