Special Communities Program
In 2001, a special law was created in Puerto Rico. This law aimed to find communities that needed extra help and support. These are often called "marginalized communities." In 2017, the Governor of Puerto Rico started a new government group to work with these special communities. Cagüitas Centro, which is part of the Cagüitas barrio, is one of the 742 places on this important list of Comunidades Especiales de Puerto Rico (Special Communities of Puerto Rico).
