Early Life and High School
Caleb Homesley grew up in Indian Trail, North Carolina. He went to Porter Ridge High School there. In his junior year, he was a great player. He scored about 20 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and made 3 assists in each game.
In 2014, Caleb decided to play college basketball at Liberty University. Many other schools also wanted him to play for them. Sadly, in his final year of high school, he injured his knee. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament, which is a major knee injury.
College Basketball Career
When Caleb first arrived at Liberty University, his coach, Ritchie McKay, suggested he might do better at a smaller school. This made Caleb even more determined. He worked very hard to get stronger and better at basketball.
In his first year, he played 32 games. He averaged 7.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. In his second year, he got another knee injury. This ended his season early. He was playing very well, averaging 12.9 points per game. Because of the injury, he took a "medical redshirt" year. This meant he could still play for four full seasons later.
When he returned, Caleb kept improving. In his junior year, he was named to the First Team All-ASUN Conference. This means he was one of the best players in his league. During the 2019 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, Caleb had an amazing game. He scored a career-high 30 points. This helped his team upset a much stronger team, Mississippi State.
In his senior year, Caleb was considered one of the top mid-major players in the country. He again scored 30 points in a game against North Alabama. At the end of the season, he was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. He averaged 15.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game that year.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Caleb Homesley hoped to join the NBA. He was not chosen in the 2020 NBA draft. However, he signed a special contract with the Washington Wizards. He later played for the Erie BayHawks in the NBA G League. He averaged 9.3 points per game there.
In 2021, Caleb signed a contract with the Hamburg Towers in Germany. The next year, he played for the Utah Jazz in the NBA Summer League. He then signed with Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia.
In 2023, he moved to Turkey to play for Tofaş. Most recently, in 2024, Caleb joined Gran Canaria in Spain. He continues to play professional basketball at a high level.
