Caledonia Township covers an area of about 31.39 square miles (81.3 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 31.12 square miles (80.6 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.27 square miles (0.7 square kilometers), is water.

In 2000, there were 4,427 people living in Caledonia Township. These people lived in 1,712 homes. Most of the people (about 97%) were White. There were also smaller groups of African American, Native American, and Asian residents. About 1.65% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
About 32% of the homes had children under 18 living there. Many homes (about 63%) were married couples living together. The average age of people in the township was 40 years old. About 24% of the population was under 18, and 13% was 65 or older.
The township is led by a person called a Supervisor. Joseph W. DeCaire has been the Caledonia Charter Township Supervisor since November 2006.
