Calvin Lawrence Booth (born May 7, 1976) is an American basketball expert. He used to be the general manager for the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before that, he played for 10 seasons as a center in the NBA. He also played college basketball for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Calvin Booth's College Basketball Journey
Calvin Booth went to Penn State University. He had been a star player at Groveport Madison High School in Ohio. In his third year of college, he was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. This award goes to the best defensive player in the Big Ten Conference. In his final year, he was chosen for the second-team All-Big Ten Conference. He earned his college degree from Penn State in 1998.
Calvin Booth's NBA Playing Career
The Washington Wizards picked Calvin Booth in the 1999 NBA draft. He was the 35th player chosen overall. He played for several NBA teams during his career. These teams included the Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Seattle SuperSonics, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Sacramento Kings. On average, he scored 3.3 points, grabbed 2.8 rebounds, and blocked 1.0 shots per game.
During the 2006–07 NBA season, he played for the Washington Wizards again. He often came off the bench to play. Sometimes, he even started games.
A Big Game for Blocks
On January 13, 2004, while playing for the Seattle SuperSonics, Booth had a huge game. He blocked 10 shots in just 17 minutes of playing time. This was the most blocks he ever had in a single game. Even with his great defense, the SuperSonics lost that game to the Cavaliers.
Playoff Victory with the Mavericks
In the 2001 NBA playoffs, Booth played for the Dallas Mavericks. In Game 5 of their series against the Utah Jazz, he made a key shot. With only 9.8 seconds left, he scored a layup. This gave Dallas an 84–83 lead, and they won the game. This win meant the Mavericks won the series 3–2. It was their first playoff series win since 1988.
Calvin Booth's Front Office Career
After his playing days, Calvin Booth started working behind the scenes in basketball. He began his front office career as a scout for the New Orleans Pelicans. This was during the 2012–13 season.
After one year, he moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves. There, he worked his way up to become the director of player personnel. On August 16, 2017, Booth was named the assistant general manager for the Denver Nuggets.
Becoming a General Manager
On July 7, 2020, Calvin Booth became the general manager of the Denver Nuggets. As general manager, he helped build a championship team. In 2023, the Nuggets won their first NBA championship. They defeated the Miami Heat in five games. The Nuggets announced on April 8, 2025, that they would not extend Booth's contract.
