Calvin Garrett had an exciting journey through college basketball before reaching the NBA. He played for two different college teams.
College Years
Garrett started his college basketball career at Austin Peay State University. He played there from 1975 to 1977. Later, he transferred to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He played for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles from 1978 to 1980.
During his time at Oral Roberts, Garrett was a standout player. In 1980, he was named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Year. This award recognized him as the best player in his college league that season.
Joining the NBA
After his successful college career, Calvin Garrett was ready for the professional league. In 1979, he was chosen in the NBA draft. The Chicago Bulls picked him in the third round as the 47th overall pick.
Garrett began his NBA career in 1980. He played for two well-known teams during his time in the league.
Playing for the Rockets
Calvin Garrett spent three seasons with the Houston Rockets. He played for them from the 1980–81 season through the 1982–83 season. During these years, he contributed to the team as a small forward.
Time with the Lakers
