You can find it about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Sharon, along Mississippi Highway 17. Even though it's a small community, Camden has its own post office and a zip code (39045). How Camden Got Its Name
Camden was named by William McWillie, who became the 22nd Governor of Mississippi. Governor McWillie grew up in Camden, South Carolina. He served in the government of South Carolina before moving to Mississippi in 1845. Later, he was elected to Congress and then became the Governor of Mississippi in 1858. He is buried in Kirkwood Cemetery, which is located near Camden, Mississippi.
