The Original Show

The original show was very popular. It ran for 873 performances, which means it was shown almost every night for a long time! Some of the main actors were Julie Andrews, Robert Goulet, and Richard Burton.
Later Productions and the Movie
After the first successful run, Camelot was performed many more times. These new versions are called revivals. The musical was also shown in other countries around the world.
In 1967, a movie version of Camelot was made. It starred Richard Harris as King Arthur, Franco Nero, and Vanessa Redgrave.
The music from the original show was also very popular. The album, which had all the songs sung by the original actors, was America's best-selling record for 60 weeks!
Camelot became very well-known during the time of President John F. Kennedy. Many people linked the musical's themes of hope and a better world to his time as president.
