Cameron Stokes is a former professional Australian rules football player. He played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Cameron was known for his speed and skill as a midfielder.
He was chosen by the Hawthorn Hawks in the 2008 AFL rookie draft. This was a special draft for new players. Cameron made his first AFL appearance in 2008. He debuted alongside another talented player from the Northern Territory, Cyril Rioli.
Cameron played all his junior football with the Darwin Football Club. This team is part of the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL). He even captained the Northern Territory state team for young players.

Cameron's father, Steven, and his great-uncle, Don Stokes, both won the Nichols Medal. This award is given to the best and fairest player in the NTFL. His grandfather, Sam Stokes, and great-grandfathers, Ali Ahmat and Put AhMat, also played for the Darwin Football Club.

Cameron's Time with Hawthorn
Cameron Stokes played 9 games in his first year, 2008. He even played in a qualifying final game. However, he got a hamstring injury. This meant he missed the final games of the season. Hawthorn went on to win the 2008 AFL Grand Final that year.
In 2009, Cameron played 10 games. He faced more injury problems, including hamstring and shoulder issues. Later that year, he seriously injured his knee. This injury is called a ruptured ACL.
He spent most of the 2010 season recovering from his knee injury. Because of his ongoing injuries, he was removed from the team at the end of 2010. Cameron Stokes played a total of 20 games and kicked 8 goals for Hawthorn.
