Camilo Igor Ballesteros Briones (born June 23, 1987, in Santiago) is a Chilean student leader and politician. He studied physical education and is a member of the Communist Youth.
Camilo was the president of the University of Santiago de Chile Student Federation (Feusach) from 2010 to 2011. During this time, he became a key spokesperson for the Confederation of Chilean Students (Confech). He played an important role in the student movement that fought for better access to quality education in Chile.

Camilo Ballesteros: Early Life and Education
Camilo Ballesteros grew up in Santiago, Chile. His parents worked hard, and he spent his childhood in the area of Independencia. He attended Saint George school and later Colegio Latinoamericano.
When he was in high school, Camilo became involved in student activism. He took part in the 2006 student protests in Chile. These protests were about improving education for students. During this time, he joined the Communist Party of Chile.
Student Leadership and Protests
At the University of Santiago, Camilo joined a group of students. They formed a student group called Avanza Usach. This group aimed to represent students' interests.
Avanza Usach won the university elections for the 2009–2010 school year. Camilo was re-elected as president in 2010. In 2011, major student protests happened across Chile. These protests called for fairer and better education for everyone.
Camilo became one of the most recognized leaders of these protests. He worked alongside other important student figures. These included Camila Vallejo from the University of Chile and Giorgio Jackson from the Catholic University.
Political Career
After his time as a student leader, Camilo entered politics. In January 2012, with support from the Communist Party, he ran for mayor. He aimed to become the mayor of Estación Central, a part of Santiago. He lost the election by a small number of votes.
In January 2013, the Communist Party announced he would run for a different role. He became a candidate for deputy, which is like a member of parliament.
Later in 2013, Camilo supported Michelle Bachelet's campaign for president. He represented the youth branch of her campaign. Camilo Ballesteros is a Roman Catholic.
