How Did Campaign Get Its Name?
The name "Campaign" has an interesting story! It comes from an early settler named Joseph Campain. His last name was spelled without the "g." Joseph Campain was an important person in the area during the late 1800s. He ran a store right next to the railroad tracks.
Because of his store and its location, the community was first known as "Campaign Stop." This name probably meant it was a stopping point along the railroad. Over time, the name was shortened to just "Campaign," which is what it's called today.
