History of Campobello
Campobello was started in 1840. Its name comes from Italian words that mean "beautiful field." A post office has been open in Campobello since 1850, helping people send and receive mail for a very long time.
Geography of Campobello
Campobello is found at 35°6′55″N 82°8′59″W / 35.11528°N 82.14972°W. This means it's in a specific spot on the map. The town is mainly located where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 176 and South Carolina Highway 357.
Campobello is northwest of a larger city called Spartanburg. It's also just a few miles south of the border between North Carolina and South Carolina. Another road, South Carolina Highway 11, goes through the northern part of Campobello. This highway connects the town to Interstate 26 to the east.
The town covers a total area of about 7.21 square kilometers (2.78 square miles). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the town limits.
