Michael Campanella "Campy" Russell (born January 12, 1952) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a forward in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Campy played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks for nine years. He was even chosen to play in the 1979 NBA All-Star Game.

Campy Russell's College Basketball Journey
Before he joined the NBA, Campy Russell was a fantastic player at the University of Michigan. He played college basketball for three seasons. In his junior year, he was a top scorer, averaging 23.7 points in each game. Because of his amazing skills, he was named an All-American that year.
Campy Russell's Professional Basketball Career
Campy Russell had a great career in the NBA. During his best season, 1978–1979, he was an NBA All-Star. That year, playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he averaged 21.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He was a key player for his team. Overall, he scored 8,953 points, grabbed 2,696 rebounds, and made 1,684 assists in his NBA career.
What Campy Russell Does Now
After his playing days were over, Campy Russell continued to be involved with basketball. Today, he works for the Cleveland Cavaliers team in their front office. His job is the Director of Alumni Relations, which means he helps connect with former players.
He also used to be a co-host for the Cavaliers' pregame and postgame show, called Cavaliers Live, on Bally Sports Ohio. He finished this role after the 2023-2024 season. On March 26, 2022, Campy Russell received a special honor. He was added to the Cavaliers Wall of Honor. This is a special place that celebrates important people in the team's history. He was honored alongside other great players like World B. Free and Lenny Wilkens, and former team owner Gordon Gund.
