Candida Mary Doyle (born August 25, 1963) is an Irish musician. She is best known as the keyboard player for the famous band Pulp. She also sometimes sings backing vocals for the group. Candida joined Pulp in 1984. She joined her brother, Magnus Doyle, who was the drummer. She took the place of the band's previous keyboard player, Tim Allcard.

Early Life and Family
Candida Mary Doyle was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her birthday is August 25, 1963. Her parents, Sandra Voe and Rex Doyle, were both actors. She has two brothers, Magnus and Daniel, who are also musicians. Her grandfather owned a fishing factory far away in the Shetland Islands.
Starting Music and Facing Challenges
Candida began taking piano lessons when she was 8 years old. She enjoyed the lessons but did not practice much. When she was 16, Candida started having a health challenge called rheumatoid arthritis. Doctors diagnosed it when she was 17. This condition caused discomfort, and it made her leave school early. She later said she was more interested in dating and seeing music groups.
Candida's Journey with Pulp
Joining the Band
In 1984, Pulp's keyboard player, Tim Allcard, left the band. Candida's brother, Magnus Doyle, suggested she join as his replacement. This was her big chance to become part of a music group.
Early Years and First Album
When Candida first joined Pulp, the band was not making much money. She even spent more money on the band than she earned from it. She worked other jobs to support herself while the band was starting out. Around 1986, Pulp almost broke up. But they stayed together and released their first album with Candida, called Freaks, in 1987.
Becoming a Key Part of Pulp's Sound
Candida remained an important member of Pulp throughout the 1990s. Her keyboard playing became a key part of the band's unique sound. Pulp grew very famous during this time. With Pulp, Candida recorded many popular albums. These include Separations, His 'n' Hers, Different Class, This Is Hardcore, and We Love Life.

Instruments She Uses
When playing live concerts with Pulp, Candida uses different musical instruments. She has used Farfisa Compact Professional electronic organs. She also plays Roland XP-10 synthesizers. Sometimes, she uses Akai S3000 samplers to create sounds.
Pulp's Hiatus and Reunions
Pulp took a break from making music in 2002. This is called a hiatus. During this time, Candida traveled for a year. She also sometimes played keyboards live with Pulp's lead singer, Jarvis Cocker.
In 2011, Pulp got back together for a reunion. Candida joined the other band members from the Different Class album. They played their comeback concert at the Isle of Wight Festival on June 11, 2011. This reunion ended in 2013. However, ten years later, Candida returned to the stage with Jarvis Cocker and other Pulp members, Nick Banks and Mark Webber. They started performing new Pulp shows again!
Candida's Personal Life
Candida Doyle has lived in many different places. She was born in Belfast. She has also lived in Manchester and Sheffield. Pulp formed in Sheffield when she was ten years old. Today, she lives in London.
