Canopus Lake is a beautiful small lake located inside Clarence Fahnestock State Park in northern Putnam County, New York. It is about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) long and 120 meters (400 feet) wide at its widest point. The lake covers an area of about 66 acres (27 hectares).
Right next to Canopus Lake, to its east, you'll find Pelton Pond. The lake is easy to reach because it's right on New York State Route 301, just west of the Taconic State Parkway.
