The Clervaux Canton is made up of five main towns and villages, which are called communes in Luxembourg. These are:
How Towns Have Changed Over Time
Sometimes, smaller towns or villages in Luxembourg decide to join together to form bigger communes. This helps them work better and share resources. Here are some times when towns in Clervaux Canton merged:
Wincrange Commune Formed
On January 1, 1978, four smaller communes – Asselborn, Boevange, Hachiville, and Oberwampach – all from the Clervaux Canton, became one new commune called Wincrange. This change was officially made on October 31, 1977.
Clervaux Commune Grew Bigger
On May 29, 2009, two other communes, Heinerscheid and Munshausen, joined the commune of Clervaux. This made the Clervaux commune larger. The law for this merger was passed on May 24, 2011.
Parc Hosingen Commune Created
On January 1, 2012, three communes merged to create Parc Hosingen. These were Consthum and Hosingen from Clervaux Canton, and Hoscheid, which used to be part of the Diekirch Canton. The law for this new commune was passed on May 24, 2011.
