Cape Meares is a small community in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it doesn't have its own official city government.
The community gets its name from a nearby natural landmark, which is also called Cape Meares. This landmark was named after John Meares, a British explorer. In 1953, a local post office was briefly renamed "Cape Meares," but it closed the following year.
